Volkerschlachtsdenkmal....what?

Monday morning we had Strategy class and then afterwards our professors said we would be going to Volkerschlachtsdenkmal. "Say what?" They sounded it out so that we could all say it together. "Ok...." Apparently it is the largest monument in Europe. It is for the Battle of the Nations which took place in Leipzig, when Napoleon was defeated by the Austrians, Swedes, Prussians, and Russians.
It definitely is not the prettiest monument I have ever seen....
Some of the girls on the trip and the big, ugly, famous Volkerschlachtsdenkmal. Aubrey, me, Beth, and Shea.

Inside there where some very strange and huge statues. This one is taking a nap. I felt like at any minute he was going to wake up and pick me up like Zeus did in the animated Hercules. haha.
This is the first floor view. It really is just so weird! haha.
We climbed the stairs to the very top of this massive thing and got an awesome view of Leipzig!

Looks like rain. As soon as we climbed down it started to sprinkle.

This is the view of the ceiling. We spent some time there looking around and in the museum some. It was really a fun day. That night we played some Ultimate Frisbee. At first it was a guy's game but eventually the girls were trusted to catch a pass now and then. It was really fun! This week has been the best. There is a lot I still want to do here. Leipzig is very safe so I just want to go explore. I hear there is a beach nearby. Today we went to Wittenberg where Martin Luther is from. That was awesome!! I'll post stuff hopefully tonight.
